About Us

Welcome to Village People (Alverstoke) WI

We were formed in October 2014. We provide women, of all ages, with fun and friendship plus the chance to learn new skills, get involved with the community and take part in a wide range of activities.

Our committee works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our members have a whole host of activities to immerse themselves in. Not only do we organise guest speakers for our monthly meetings, we arrange educational trips, outings to local and national Theatre shows, Cinema trips to Fareham Reel or St Vincent's, mini holiday breaks, generous raffle prizes for our monthly meetings plus Christmas hampers for our December meetings.

We hope you enjoy looking at our website. If you have any queries or are interested in joining please email our secretary at villagepeoplesec@hampshirewi.co.uk or fill in an enquiry form here. You can also download an application form here to fill out and bring to one of our meetings

We also have a large number of Sub-Groups and we are open to suggestions for a new group if you want to concentrate on a particular craft or activity. We have a number of members who are very skilled and offer up taster sessions in a chosen craft or skill set and sometimes our ladies arrange a craft session at a local arts and crafts centre or via one of our many inspirational speakers - Needle felting, Fused Glass Creations,  Kokedama Hanging Gardens to name just a few activities that have been organised in the last couple of years.

Every September we run a stall at the Michaelmas Fayre in Alverstoke Village.

Our ladies work hard to fill our stall with homemade cakes, jams and crafted items - this year we had felted pumpkins which sold out in the first hour,  another of our members painted stones and made them into fridge magnets.

Every June we hold a Crazy Golf Tournament at Solent Springs in Stokes Bay. The lady with the lowest score gets a Trophy to polish for a year

We love meeting once a month for lunch with the girls
