Not Denman Days

After lockdown and the sale of Denman College Four Marks WI found itself in the position of having a considerable sum of money ring fenced for Denman bursaries for our members. As our membership overall proved to be not interested in Denman online, the committee came up with the idea of providing our own “Not-Denman Days.”

In the first year the bursary money subsidised a session of willow weaving, a chance to create your own hanging basket under instruction at our local garden centre and a day making fascinators. Quilting also kept us busy for a day and, under the guidance of one of our very talented members, we used white chrysanthemums and gypsophila to create “Christmas cakes”.

So far this year there has been a trip to the nearby pottery cafe and a calligraphy session run by a U3A tutor; a tour of local sites of interest (for the less mobile) and a mosaic workshop is in the pipeline.

These offerings are designed to include the majority of our membership in an opportunity for fun, friendship and education.
